Top 5 Boxing Prospects Who Could Become Future Champions

Boxing fans are always on the lookout for the next big thing. Every boxer has their own journey, so no one can say for sure whether a fighter will become a World Champion one day, just like you can’t predict where the ball will land when you play roulette online, but we have been monitoring the journeys of many young prospects – and we’ve come up with our top 5 list.

It’s 2024, and there’s no shortage of young talent, ready to make their mark on the sport. Note that all of the boxers on our list have turned professional.

Here’s a look at five promising boxing prospects who we believe could become future champions. Each of these fighters has demonstrated exceptional skill, determination, and a winning track record, which were the determining factors when compiling this list.

Looking At the Five Best Boxing Prospects

Professional Boxing Prospects and Their Potential

        1.  Hamzah Sheeraz (24, Middleweight, 20-0, 16 KOs)

Hamzah Sheeraz is not a name that appears on every ‘Top Future Boxing Prospects’ list, and you might not have heard of him. However, the British boxer has been making waves in the middleweight division with his undefeated record of 20 wins, including 16 knockouts. Hamzah Sheeraz has a well-rounded skill set, highlighted by his powerful jab and smart ring control. He had an impressive run in 2024, notably taking down Austin Williams, a previously undefeated contender. With his momentum and talent, Sheeraz is well-positioned to challenge for a world title soon

        2.  Xander Zayas (21, Junior Middleweight, 19-0, 12 KOs)

Xander Zayas is a name you’ll want to remember. At just 21 years old, the Puerto Rican sensation has already amassed a perfect 19-0 record with 12 knockouts. Known for his sharp boxing skills and physical strength, he has quickly become a standout in the junior middleweight division. His most recent fight ended with a dominant win over former world champion Patrick Teixeira in June 2024. This showed that he’s got what it takes and is ready to take on tougher competition.

Xander’s next fight is against Damian Sosa in New York on September, 27, on the undercard of the Sandy Ryan vs. Mikaela Mayer WBO World Female Welterweight Title fight.

         3.  Jared Anderson (24, Heavyweight, 17-1, 15 KOs)

Jared Anderson was once touted as the next big thing in American heavyweight boxing and the next Deontay Wilder. Yes, we are well aware of the setback he suffered against Martin Bakole, but his potential remains undeniable.

Anderson, nicknamed ‘The Real Big Baby’, has a combination of size, power, and technique that make him a formidable opponent in the heavyweight division. We believe that the fight vs Bakole may have put some pressure off his shoulders, and he has shown resilience and a commitment to improving in the past. And with time on his side, Anderson still has a chance to reclaim his status as a top contender and possibly become a world champion.

We have put him so high on this list because we genuinely believe that he has possibly the best potential of all young heavyweights, but we are well aware that he will have to do a lot to turn his career around.

         4.  Ernesto Mercado (22, Super Lightweight, 16-0, 15 KOs)

Ernesto “Tito” Mercado has become one of the most exciting young fighters, with 15 knockouts in 16 fights, Mercado’s punching power is a significant threat to anyone in the super lightweight division. He’s already scored victories against notable opponents like Jeremia Nakathila, who has shared the ring with some of the best in the division. The popularly known Tito is still in the early stages of his career, but his quick progression suggests that a title shot could be possible.

         5.  Adam Azim (21, Super Lightweight, 10-0, 7 KOs)

Adam Azim, known as “The Assassin,” is another rising star from the UK and another Super Lightweither on our list. At 21, Azim has already secured 10 wins, with 7 coming by knockout. His combination of speed, footwork, and precise shot selection makes him another young fighter to watch closely. He ended 2023 on a high note by winning the European super lightweight title and is expected to continue this trajectory in 2024 under the guidance of his trainer, Shane McGuigan. With a solid support team and immense talent, Azim is deserving of his spot on our Top 5 young prospects list.

These young fighters are already making significant strides in their careers. We included fighters in different weight categories, and we believe that all of them will have a genuine shot at the title in their respective divisions in the following years.
