Farmer on Diaz- ‘I’ve been through more’

IBF Super Featherweight champion Tevin Farmer is in action next Thursday as part of a big card in Miami, as he takes on Joesph “JoJo” Diaz that will air on DAZN.

Farmer speaking on the latest episode of the Ring Walk Jon Podcast stated that his struggle to the top would give him the advantage in this newest title defense against Diaz.

“I feel like I’ve been through more. I’ve been through more adversity than he (Diaz) has,” Farmer said on the Ring Walk Jon Podcast. “I feel like I had to grind extra harder, so I know how it feels to dig down to grit and go get it. I feel that he won’t compete with that side of me in the ring because he’s never been there before.”

Many tend to forget that Farmer, who is 30-4-1 with six knockouts, started his pro career 7-4-1, but has rolled off 23 consecutive victories. Five of those have been defending the IBF strap.

The feud between Farmer and Diaz had been brewing for a while, which began over Twitter last year and was seen in action around fight week in Las Vegas. Anyone who has followed Farmer on Twitter knows that he’s been at fights with any fighter who’ll tweet at him, most notably Gervonta Davis.

The only gripe I have, as well as many others boxing purists have, is that this card has slated in the co-main event of a ten fight bill with the main event fight being between YouTubers Jake Paul and AnEsonGib clashing on their pro debuts.

Farmer felt his bout should’ve gotten top billing but understand why it didn’t.

“I feel that this it’s definitely a main (event) card,” Farmer said. The card was originally my card. I don’t know what happened. At the end of the day, there’s politics in boxing. I’m not fully signed to (Matchroom Boxing promoter) Eddie Hearn, so he’s going to put his guys before me. I’m not even mad at that.

While Farmer’s matchup isn’t the headliner, it is a good one and one to keep an eye out for next Thursday.
