WBA Heavyweight Champion Murat Gassiev gives his verdict on Itauma vs Hrgovic

On August 29, at the O2 Arena in London, live on DAZN PPV, Itauma vs Hrgovic headlines a Queensberry Promotions fight card. This heavyweight bout will present Moses Itauma with the toughest test of his career so far against the seasoned operator Filip Hrgovic. Ahead of this intriguing showdown, WBA heavyweight champion Murat Gassiev has weighed in on the fight when speaking to Oscar Bevis at The Stomping Ground.

Itauma vs Hrgovic set for August 29 showdown in London

Itauma (14-0, 12 KOs) has made it all look relatively easy so far, passing every test with flying colours. Last time out, Moses proved too fast and powerful for the normally durable Jermaine Franklin. Other eye-catching wins have come against Dillian Whyte and Mike Balogun.

Hrgovic (20-1, 15 KOs) has only lost once, against Daniel Dubois in the Matchroom vs Queensberry 5v5. “El Animal” has returned to winning ways since, including last time out against Dave Allen. Hrgovic was an impressive amateur who has mixed at a higher level than Itauma. He carries plenty of pop in his work, and his chin is durable. Can the Croatian be the fighter who drags Itauma into the trenches?

Murat Gassiev weighs in on Itauma vs Hrgovic

When asked what his view is on Itauma vs Hrgovic, Gassiev said: “This is a good fight, interesting fight, like I said, two different fighters. Filip has more experience, more tough fights. He sees more in the ring than Moses, but Moses is hungry, young and talented. 

“The future of boxing. English boxing future. Interesting fight. The same power, but maybe Filip has a little bit more. I don’t know; we’ll see. I watch this fight, and I can’t say who will win. Difficult for me.”
