On June 27 at Barclays Center, Brooklyn, Xander Zayas vs Jaron Ennis will headline a Matchroom Boxing card in association with Top Rank for Zayas’ WBO/WBA super welterweight title. The main card will stream live on DAZN PPV. Ahead of this unification showdown, Ennis has spoken to Ariel Helwani, revealing his confidence as we approach fight night.

Jaron Ennis to challenge Xander Zayas

This will be Ennis’s (35-0, 31 KOs) second fight at 154, after defeating Uisma Lima in a round to collect the interim WBA title. He reigned supreme at welterweight, with his best wins coming against Eimantas Stanionis, Roiman Villa, and Custio Clayton.

Ennis had been rumoured to be facing Vergil Ortiz, but his promotional troubles curtailed that fight for now, and quickly it became clear that Zayas wanted the fight, and it was quickly announced.

Zayas (23-0, 13 KOs) himself spoke to Ariel Helwani, making it clear he’s not concerned by Ennis: “Boots is flat-footed, and he knows it… I think he would say I have better footwork than he does,” said Zayas.
