Current main event odds: Valenzuela -110, De Los Santos +104, Draw +1400.
Jose Valenzuela recent form
Valenzuela (15-3, 9 KOs) suffered his first career defeat against De Los Santos before losing his next fight to Chris Colbert, a defeat he avenged in his next fight. Valenzuela then challenged the WBA super lightweight champion, Issac Cruz. Valenzuela produced a career-best performance in that fight to win the WBA title by split decision, with scorecards of 115-113 for Cruz, while the other two judges scored it 116-112 for Valenzuela. He lost the title against Gary Antuanne Russell, before beating Diego Torres Nunez last time out.
Edwin De Los Santos recent form
De Los Santos (17-2, 15 KOs) has mixed at a high level, losing to Shakur Stevenson. However, inactivity has seen the Dominican fighter only fight three times since his 2022 win against Valenzuela. He was last seen in action towards the end of 2025, stopping Eliot Chavez in the first round.
Zuffa Boxing 08: Main event prediction
Jose “Rayo” Valenzuela provides a complex puzzle for any opponent, mainly due to his awkward southpaw style. His hand speed is quick, and he carries enough power to slow down an opponent. Against Cruz, he showed his quality at catching aggressive fighters when they come in to close the distance.
De Los Santos carries plenty of power. He’s also adept at generating effective combinations up close. De Los Santos is a talented counterpuncher, but he will need to draw Valenzuela out.
Valenzuela will be eager to navigate through the opening few rounds and drag the heavy-handed Dominican into the later rounds, where he is known to become frustrated, and his work becomes sloppy. We are backing Valenzuela to do just that, and move well and pick his punches impressively on the way to a competitive unanimous decision win.
