Tim Tzyu next fight confirmed amid Errol Spence Jr rumours

Tim Tszyu’s career has been anything other than straightforward. The son of a boxing legend, Kostya Tszyu, his career, like his dad’s, was full of memorable moments up until the end of 2023. Since then, it’s been a rollercoaster, with some damaging defeats for the Aussie fighter. Recently, he has been linked to a fight with Errol Spence Jr. Amid those ongoing rumours, Tszyu’s next fight has been announced.

Tim Tszyu vs Errol Spence Jr rumours

Tim Tszyu (26-3, 18 KOs) will return to the ring and face Denis Nurja in a 10-rounder at 157 pounds on a No Limit Boxing card set for April 5 at WIN Sports & Entertainment Centres in Wollongong, Australia.

Dan Rafael and other media personnel are billing this as a warm-up fight for the Australian ahead of a potential summer showdown with Spence Jr. If, as expected, Tszyu comes through the fight in style and unscathed, No Limit, TGB Promotions and PBC will continue to negotiate for Tszyu-Spence, with the potential bout taking place in the headline slot on a PBC on Prime Video pay-per-view in June, in Australia.

It remains to be seen just how much Spence (28-1, 22 KOs) has left. The American has not been seen since being dominated and knocked out by Terence Crawford in their long-awaited undisputed welterweight title fight in July 2023.

Tszyu has suffered three damaging defeats in his last five fights, including the evisceration against Bakhram Murtazaliev. He did return to winning ways last time out, beating Anthony Velazquez by unanimous decision.

Tim Tszyu vs Denis Nurja

Regardless of the Tszyu-Spence rumours, the Australian has a job to do on April 5 against Nurja (20-0, 9 KOs). The Albanian will be taking a huge step up in class, with his previous best wins coming against Kiryl Samadurau and Charles Shinima.

“This is the biggest opportunity of my career and I am ready for it,” Nurja said. “People are talking about Tim’s comeback but I am the one standing in front of him. I respect what he has done in the sport but I believe this is my moment. I am coming to Australia to win.”

Tszyu appears focused on the challenge in front of him: “I’m ready to get back to work,” Tszyu said. “I’m inspired, focused and preparing for the toughest version of him. There are some massive opportunities ahead but none of that matters unless I get through this fight. My full focus is on Easter Sunday and the job in front of me. I want to get back to the top of the division and fight for world titles again and this is the first step.”
