Las Vegas Raiders wide receiver & Super Bowl winner Phillip Dorsett II spoke to boxing reporter Sean Zittel about any similarities between boxing and football, his prediction for the upcoming Teofimo Lopez vs Shakur Stevenson showdown, and his top five current boxers.

Phillip Dorsett II talks boxing and football comparisons & predicts Lopez vs Stevenson

When asked for his thoughts on Teofimo Lopez vs Shakur Stevenson:

“To be honest, I think the only way Teo wins is if he knocks him out. Obviously, I don’t see that happening. But I’m a fan of both. Big fan of both, but I think Shakur has the edge.

“I don’t even wanna say when it comes to skills, because I feel like skill-wise they’re kind of on the same level, but Shakur don’t get hit, so it’s hard for me to sit here and be like ‘Teo gonna knock him out,’ I don’t see that. I think Shakur gonna outpoint him, and I think he gonna win on the scorecards,” said Dorsett II.

When asked if there are any similarities between football and being a fighter, the Raiders wide receiver said: “Yeah, the physical part. But, obviously, boxing is way more demanding on the physical part. Football-wise, yeah, we get hit every now and then, but in boxing, sometimes you get jabbed, and it hurts. It’s different, man.

“I don’t see too much similarities. I feel like you gotta be a dog to play both. But boxing is a whole different animal. You can’t play boxing. You can play football, but you can’t play boxing.

Zittel asked Dorsett for his top five current boxers, allowing him to include Crawford despite his recent retirement: “Bud, Tank, Shakur, Boots, Bam,” said Dorsett.

After Zittel said he thought Dorsett would pick Bam or David Benavidez as his last option, the Raiders wide receiver said: “Bam. Yeah, I like styles, so yeah, I would say those guys. The boxer-punchers. That’s the kind of style I like,” said Phillip Dorsett II.
