Osleys Iglesias vs. Vladimir Shishkin Fight Recap
Osleys Iglesias (14-0, 13 KOs) outclassed Vladimir Shishkin (16-2, 10 KOs) to put himself one step closer to challenging for a world title.
The official time of the technical knockout was 1:28 of round eight. Since this fight was an IBF final eliminator, Iglesias is now in line to challenge for the organization’s world title. The belt is currently held by undisputed champion Saúl “Canelo” Álvarez.
Iglesias was able to tag his opponent upstairs not long after the fight began. He was able to do so repeatedly in round one. Shishkin appeared a lot more focused in the second and was able to make the Cuban miss on a number of shots. Despite this, Iglesias was still landing more power punches and had more success imposing his style. Round three saw him return to what he had been doing in the first.
Iglesias continued to put a beating on his opponent as the fight progressed. Shishkin’s lack of head movement made him a relatively easy target to hit. A solid chin allowed him to take the punches without hitting the canvas. However, it would not be long before the fight came to an end.
In round eight, Iglesias landed a barrage of punches that lasted for nearly an entire minute. Shishkin was getting hit with a variety of punches and doing very little to defend himself, but never fell to the canvas. Eventually, the referee stepped in to put an end to proceedings, giving Iglesias the technical knockout win.
