The internet went into complete meltdown after Jake Paul vs Gervonta Davis was finally 

announced. Long rumoured since Paul’s clash with Mike Tyson, the bout is official – though many details remain unclear. But how did it we get to this point?

Jake Paul vs Gervonta Davis was not on many people’s 2025 boxing bingo, but here we are, and the announcement has been made, despite the gigantic weight disparity. Cruiserweight novice Paul and WBA lightweight champion Davis are separated by 65 pounds and are two of the biggest stars in boxing in their own right. The exact details of the fight remain unclear, but Dan Rafael confirmed in his Fight Freaks Unite Substack via sources that it will be a 10-round exhibition with the result not counting on either fighter’s official record. The undercard has not been announced, but it will provide a great platform for some up-and-coming fighters.

The exhibition is set for November 14 at State Farm Arena in Atlanta, with the event streaming live to Netflix subscribers.

Paul had been heavily linked to a fight with Anthony Joshua, with this fight still seemingly a possibility for 2026. “El Gallo” had also been linked with a fight against Canelo, before the Mexican signed his four-fight deal with Turki Alalshikh and Riyadh Season. Paul was last seen in action outpointing Julio Cesar Chavez Jr, a fight that would have drawn plenty of attention on sites such as Bitcoin betting sites explained.

Davis controversially escaped with a draw against Lamont Roach and invoked his contractual right to an immediate rematch, but has now gone in a completely different direction with the Paul bout. It was recently announced that the domestic violence case against Davis had been dropped.
