Crawford vs Canelo: Exclusive Interview with ‘Bud’ Ahead of September 13
Crawford Reveals Desire to Face Canelo
Near the beginning of the interview, Dan asked Crawford (41-0, 31 KOs) when the Canelo fight became his focus: “This is the biggest fight to be made in boxing, out of all the divisions,” said Crawford. “Terence Crawford vs Canelo, it don’t get no bigger than that.”
When asked how he got Turki Alalshikh to back the fight and bring it to a reality: “Me being serious about it. You know, at first Turki felt I should fight somebody else at 154. Go and try to become undisputed at 154, but those guys at 154 didn’t do too much for me or my career, so why not go up and challenge myself and fight another all-time great in Canelo.“

Dan also asked “Bud” about the potential of becoming a four-division lineal champion and what matching Floyd Mayweather and Manny Pacquiao would mean to him: “Those are two great fighters that ever laced up a pair of gloves, so to be in a category with just them two and myself, it will be something crazy to even think about.”
“There’s a lot riding on this fight for me. We looking forward to it,” added Crawford.

Crawford vs Canelo: ‘Bud’ Responds to Resume Criticism
When asked about Canelo downplaying his resume, Crawford said: “Well, it definitely irritated me because I can say so much about his resume and the guys he fought at the time he fought and so forth, but I’m not gonna do that. I’d rather talk about him as a fighter and forget all the other people that he fought before me, because at the end of the day, it don’t matter.

“Me and him gotta fight. I’m not fighting his resume. I’m not fighting the guys that he fought, none of that, so I’d rather keep it straight about Canelo.”
