Eubank Jr vs Benn almost felt like it would never happen following the cancellation of their 2022 fight due to two failed drug tests from Benn. The rivalry between the two has intensified since that cancellation, and following the lifting of Benn’s suspension and the decision of the UK Anti-Doping and British Board of Boxing Control not to appeal, the fight was swiftly announced for April 26, 2025.

When discussing the eagerly anticipated Chris Eubank Jr vs Conor Benn bout, Groves discussed it amongst great British boxing rivalries: “Eubank Sr and Nigel Benn are number one. You can’t argue with that. Because of the fights and the buildup, me and Carl Froch is next.

“There was nothing like it and I don’t think there’ll be anything like it again. I think third is me and James DeGale. When have you seen two guys from the same gym who hate each other, go in totally different directions? Conor Benn and Chris Eubank Jr are probably fourth in the list thanks to the fact that it’s been brewing for years, the egg slap and the doping scandal.
