When asked by Clarke about the abilities of Canelo, Bivol said: “Of course he’s good. He has a good defence. It’s just one of his good sides. He’s using his body a lot for defence.”

If Canelo defeats William Scull on May 3 as expected, it’s widely thought that he will face “Bud” in September, and Clarke asked the undisputed light heavyweight champion for his thoughts about the fight: “First reaction was of course, about the size of Crawford. Is it ok for him to move up two weight classes or not? But then I saw him in Dubai maybe a month ago. I thought he was big.”

Bivol continued: “He has very good skills. He’s one of my favourite boxers. He’s able to win this fight.”

“He will need to get used to the power and pressure of 168 because it’s different. Big difference to be honest,” added Bivol.
