Devin Haney & Ryan Garcia Set to Star on Landmark Boxing Event

Turki Alalshikh has hinted at his desire to host fight cards at historic venues and it has now been revealed that Times Square, New York City will be hosting an intriguing tripleheader fight card on May 2 titled: ‘Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves.’

For the first time in history, Times Square will be transformed into a world-class boxing venue, hosting three thrilling bouts and marking a new collaboration with SNK, creators of the Fatal Fury gaming series. This event will follow The Ring’s highly anticipated April 26 clash between Conor Benn and Chris Eubank Jr.

Teofimo Lopez (21-1, 13 KOs) will return to the ring, defending his WBO/The Ring super lightweight titles against Arnold Barboza Jr (32-0, 11 KOs). Devin Haney (31-0, 1 NC (15 KOs) will make his much-anticipated return against Jose Ramirez (29-2, 18 KOs). 

According to The Ring Magazine, the main event will see Ryan Garcia (24-1-1 NC, 20 KOs) return from his drug ban and face Rolando Romero (16-2, 13 KOs) in what should be a spicy build-up and entertaining fight.

Dan Rafael previously revealed via his Fight Freaks Unite Substack that a two-fight deal is in place, and should both win on May 2, Haney and Garcia will meet in a rematch. This planned rematch adds a further layer of intrigue ahead of May 2. Haney-Garcia 1 in April 2024 saw Garcia dominate Haney, scoring multiple knockdowns, and winning by unanimous decision. Subsequently “Kingry” failed a VADA pre-fight and post-fight drug test, with Ostarine found in his urine.

There is no love lost between Haney and Garcia, with social media posts and lawsuits making headlines since their first bout. Both fighters will be eager to settle this rivalry once and for all.
