Ahead of this historic event, George Groves spoke to Casino Beats and predicted Sheeraz to deal with Adames decisively.

Hamzah Sheeraz vs. Carlos Adames: George Groves Weighs in on World Title Showdown

Groves Talks Decisive Outcome for Sheeraz vs Adames

Adames will be entering the fight as the champion but as the underdog in many eyes. He won the title with a comfortable yet lacklustre victory over Terrell Gausha. His only setback came in 2019, losing to Patrick Teixeira. The Dominican is relentless and will look to close the distance with Hamzah Sheeraz and work his opponent’s body.

The Brit scored three dominant wins in 2024, including high-profile wins against Austin Williams and Tyler Denny. Sheeraz is brilliant at controlling the distance and posseses a great jab. He carries power late into fights and will be a formidable opponent for champion Adames.

When asked about the fight, Groves told Casino Beats: “I haven’t seen a lot of Adames, but Sheeraz of late, I feel has been one of the most improved fighters in British boxing. He’s rose to the occasion time and time again, he carries himself like a champion now, and a regular and a key figure of the sort of Riyadh Season shows, which comes with a lot of pressure, I’d imagine.”

“You’ve got fortunate enough to be part of these big shows, you’ll probably get paid well for it, but from experience, if you mess up, you’re out.

Hamzah Sheeraz Attributes and Fight Prediction

When asked about the attributes of Sheeraz and possibly unifying the division: “He’s huge for the weight, really big. Tall guy. Punches hard and a few years ago you might not have backed Sheeraz to have made the improvements that he’ddone. But now I think he’s definitely a future world champion. I wouldn’t be surprised if he goes and does a really goodjob,” said Groves.

Groves was asked if a stoppage win was on the cards for Sheeraz, Groves said: “I think it can happen. Because, I wouldn’t back against his power. And he goes for the finish. When he puts his shots together and he gets the guys hurt, he’s good at closing the show. So, I’d back him for a stoppage win.”
