Matchroom Boxing Heavyweight Recruit Targets Knockout Win in Monte Carlo

On December 14 on the undercard of Murodjon Akhmadaliev (12-1, 9 KOs) vs. Ricardo Espinoza (30-4, 25 KOs), recent Matchroom Boxing recruit Teremoana Teremoana (4-0, 4 KOs) will fight for the first time since he inked a long-term promotional deal with the promotional giant. The entire card at the Salle des Étoiles, Monte Carlo will be shown live on DAZN. Ahead of his Matchroom debut, Teremoana has promised fight fans an entertaining contest.

Teremoana Promises Knockout for Fight Fans

Teremoana enjoyed an impressive amateur career, which saw him represent Australia at the 2024 Paris Olympics. He reached the quarter-final stage, before losing to the experienced Uzbek fighter Bakhodir Jalolov. This fight in Monte Carlo will mark his first bout since committing his long-term future to Matchroom.

The Australian fighter will face Volodymyr Katsuk (5-1, 2 KOs) in a scheduled six-rounder, opening the fight card in Monte Carlo.

Big Punching Heavyweight Talks Taking Chances and Putting on a Show

“I know what I have to be now to beat the best,” said Teremoana, who will be eager to put on a show for his Matchroom debut. “Now I’ve just got to take this opportunity with both hands and smash everyone in the pros. I believe I’m going to be the greatest heavyweight of this generation. That’s what I believe. Give me some time to prove it. Let me earn my stripes, and then we’ll go from there.”

Talking about the fight on Saturday, the exciting Australian prospect said: “This is my new pro debut. It was great to get a date locked in so soon after signing with Matchroom. That’s what I want to do. I just want to fight.”

“I’m here to do my job, of course. I’m not mucking around. I’m here to sort out the business. I’m a very entertaining fighter. I enjoy getting in the ring and punching on. At the end of the day, I think everyone just likes to see people get knocked out. So, if you want to watch heavyweight boxing and see people get knocked out — tune in.,” said Teremoana, setting expectations for his fight.

Akhmadaliev and Espinoza will collide in the main event, and both spoke at the pre-fight presser:Monte Carlo is a very special place, very beautiful,” said Akhmadaliev through an interpreter. “It’s my first time here. But, if we’re talking about the fight, yeah it’s important. But, you know, my camp is done very good. My team is here. I’m ready for this fight and I’ll show everything [that] I should be.”

“First of all I want to say thank you to God for the opportunity,” said Espinoza through an interpreter. “For allowing me to come here and when I heard first that this fight was being negotiated, I thought it was fantastic. It felt like all the universes had aligned to enable me to fight on this card. We’ve had a fantastic camp. There’s nothing to complain about. The work is now done and now we’re prepared for whatever comes in the ring, but we’re sure it’ll be a war and we’re gonna give absolutely everything once we get in that ring.”
