Jose Benavidez Sr. Issues Bold Warning to Morrell

Benavidez has destroyed all comers so far, with impressive wins over Demetrius Andrade, Caleb Plant and Anthony Dirrell before moving to light heavyweight and defeating Oleksandr Gvozdyk last time. Morrell Jr. is also new at the weight and only made his debut in August this year, defeating Radivoje Kalajdzic by unanimous decision.

Talking about the February 1 showdown, Jose said: “David’s super focused. Mentally, spiritually and everything.”

Discussing plans for his son: “He’s so motivated, and at the end of the day we gotta go through him (David Morrell) to get to the other fighters like Beterbiev, Bivol and maybe cruiserweight. “Zurdo” Ramirez, congratulations on his win. He looked spectacular. Those are the fights were aiming (for). He’s super young and nobody or nothing is gonna stop David from achieving his dreams,” said Jose.
