On October 12, Dmitry Bivol (23-0, 12 KOs) and Artur Beterbiev (20-0, 20 KOs) face off for the undisputed light heavyweight showdown in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. It’s an impressive-looking undercard, which will be led by Fabio Wardley (17-0-1, 16 KOs) vs. Frazer Clarke (8-0-1, 6 KOs). Ahead of this all-British rematch, Clarke has received advice from the former undisputed heavyweight champion Lennox Lewis for a Sky Sports News documentary.

Clarke Receives Crucial Advice from Lennox Lewis for Wardley Fight

The two heavyweights were involved in an all-British classic on March 31 this year at the 02 Arena. The pair ultimately fought to a draw with Wardley holding onto his  British, Commonwealth and European titles. Both felt they had done enough last time, but on October 12, it’s time to settle the score.

Ahead of this huge card in Riyadh, Clarke has spoken to Lewis, who shared his advice ahead of the Wardley rematch: “For me, it was easy because I understood the mistake,” Lewis said.

He continued: “It was like, I know what I did wrong. I’m going to go and correct it, and then come back even stronger.”

Lewis then explained what Clarke needed to do and praised the 2020 Olympic Bronze medalist: “For you, you’re almost there, bro. All it is, is a little bit more conditioning and then the game plan, and you’re there.” Lewis added: “I was very impressed with your fight, and said, ‘Second time around, just fix a couple of things’.”

The Importance of Improvement

Lewis then spoke to Clarke about the importance of developing from his amateur days: “It isn’t going to come to you. You’ve got to put in the time, you’ve got to put in the effort, and then you’ve got to know what to work on.”

He continued: “If you’re boxing and your feet are in quicksand, that’s no way to box. You’re not going to get too far that way.”

Lewis also mentioned the one key fundamental all great heavyweights need: “All great heavyweights had great jabs, so you’ve got to develop that jab. Very important.”
