Unbeaten Featherweight Champion Signs Multi-Fight Deal With Top Rank

Top Rank have announced another signing for their already stacked stable, with the news unbeaten WBO featherweight world champion Rafael Espinoza (24-0, 20 KOs) has signed a multi-fight co-promotional agreement with the promotional giant, who will work alongside Zanfer Promotions.

Espinoza and Bob Arum React to New Deal

Ahead of Espinoza-Chirino, Bob Arum has spoken about the unbeaten world champion signing with Top Rank: “Rafael Espinoza is a fighter who gives the fans excitement every time he steps through the ropes.”

Arum continued: “I look forward to working with our friends at Zanfer Promotions to deliver Rafael the biggest and best fights. He has all the tools to become one of the great Mexican champions of his era.”

Espinoza also spoke on the deal and his aim to move his career onto the next level: “I’m very excited about this agreement between Zanfer Promotions and Top Rank to take my career to another level. I’m also excited about my main event fight in Las Vegas. I’ll show that this title will stay with me for a long time.”

Espinoza vs. Chirino

The Guadalajara native world champion will defend his WBO strap against fellow Mexican Chirino on Friday, June 21 at Fontainebleau Las Vegas live on ESPN+. Espinoza won his WBO belt in a Fight of the Year contender against Robeisy Ramirez, which had back-and-forth action and knockdowns, making it a thrilling contest.

The victory for Espinoza made him the 30th Mexican featherweight world champion and the 20th from his home state of Jalisco. That victory over the Cuban two-time Olympic gold medalist has taken the Mexican onto a new career path, and a win on June 21, will seemingly help him obtain unification opportunities.
