Tyson Fury Spent Part Of Sunday Gloating With Eddie Hearn

Fresh off his WBC heavyweight title win in front of some 94,000 at Wembley Stadium Saturday night, champ Tyson Fury spent time Sunday afternoon in London with his family celebrating. But, he also couldn’t resist conversing with the rival promoter of his Saturday night opponent Dillian Whyte about Fury’s one punch TKO.

Talksport in the U.K. had the info on Fury reaching Eddie Hearn of Matchroom Boxing on Facetime video to remind him that, not surprisingly, Hearn had recently predicted a Whyte KO for the title.

After greeting fans outside his fight hotel, the champion went for lunch.

He was joined by a big group which included his wife Paris Fury, father John Fury, brother Tommy Fury and Tommy’s girlfriend Molly-Mae Hague. TV personality Mark Wright also joined him as he went to Sheesh in Chigwell and received a hero’s welcome.

Fury then sat down to eat, but could not resist having some fun with rival promoter Hearn as he did so. He called Hearn on Facetime, presumably to bask in his victory and rub it in just a little. 

As you can see from the photo above, the ever talkative Hearn was smiling in the still photo of Fury making the video call, but honestly, what else could he do?

Hearn was prominently out-bid by Fury’s promoter Frank Warren’s record $41 million out-lay from Queensberry Promotions to secure the purse bid for Fury-Whyte in late January. That topped Hearn by $9 million and kept him away from the cameras and microphones for the build up for the return for the first time in four years for Fury to defend his title in the U.K.

Fast forward to Saturday night and the “Gypsy King,” who delivered in front of the massive throngs of fans at one of the most famous venues in the world. Fury’s booming right uppercut sent the challenger Whyte crashing on his back near the end of the sixth round and the bout was stopped seconds later for the second successful defense of his WBC crown.

Now, Fury is truly a “conquering hero” in Britain and certainly entitled to bask in it, even with the opposition’s “hype guy,” Hearn.
