Conor Benn Outlasts Granados For Decision
On Saturday night, Conor Benn had the biggest test in his career and passed it, defeating veteran Adrian Granados by unanimous decision on the Matchroom Boxing card at Emerald Headingley Stadium in Leeds, England.
The final judge’s scorecards over ten rounds were 100-90,99-91 and 97-93, all in favor of Benn, who used his power in this fight that was a learning experience for the undefeated welterweight.
The contest seen worldwide on the streaming service DAZN and was a reschedule of a fight from July as Been had to withdraw due to contacting COVID 19.
The contest’s opening saw Benn looking to corner Granados and try to end the night in a similar fashion he did his last time out against Samuel Vargas. What took place early on was Benn catching Granados at times coming while Granados could sneak in shots between. While it looked close early on, it was clear that Benn was doing enough to easily bank the first half of the flight.

However, Granados was able to stay in this fight as Benn looked to be loading up too much early on and wasn’t catching Granados clean with any punches of consequence. However, Granados looked to have some success as the fight grew on as he was able to keep Benn at bay with his right and movement. The best shots of the fight came in the eighth round as Benn finally landed a right flush that staggered Granados in the closing moments of the round.
The final rounds were more of the same as Granados was able to stay in the rounds of the fight but not doing enough offensively that would sway the judges in this ten-round contest. They also weren’t the most interesting as a smattering of boos was starting to be heard audibly as the final bell sounded.
With the win for Benn, we’ll see what is next up for him, but this was definitely a learning experience for him.
