Tyson Fury challenging Drew McIntyre?

Tyson Fury has been calling out for a challenge, and while we wait for the third fight with Deontay Wilder, we will get another contest instead in the meantime.

Fury has been making the rounds this past week with talks of taking on the current champion in WWE (as in Pro Wrestling), Drew McIntrye, the only way he knows how.

Talking smack at the opposition.

“I’ve been sitting on the train on the way home after a long, busy weekend, and I’m thinking about people I want to punch in the face,” Fury recently said on social media this week.

“The first one that springs to mind is a big fella called Drew McIntyre. Now, Drew, you’ve been having quite a bit to say about me lately and I’d love to punch your face in, honestly. So this is an official challenge video to Drew McIntyre, to the WWE heavyweight champion of the world.”

To those unaware of how ‘wrasslin’ works”, the simple storyline here is, “I don’t like you, and you don’t like me,…. so let’s fight” is what these two are building up to.

This “fight’ wouldn’t be Fury’s first time in a WWE ring as he was victorious (shocker) against Braun Strowman back at their Crown Jewel last Halloween. The big hoopla with that contest was the eye of Fury that needed over 40 stitches to heal up as that may have had a possibility of reopening. After seven minutes of a match which noted wrestling pundit Dave Meltzer gave 0 out of 5 stars, it was clear that it was a non-issue, as it preceded the match between him and Wilder last February.

The foreshadowing in this wrestling contest is that Drew McIntyre, the current WWE Champion, is playing out much as the potential hyped mega-fight between Fury and Anthony Joshua would shape up between the two. As ‘art imitates life’ Fury would challenge the Scottish Mcintrye similar to the all-Britan battle with Joshua that is agreed to take place sometime, somewhere in 2021.

“If you are able to make a super-fight, a mega-fight like a WWE champion Drew McIntyre, like a world champion in Tyson Fury in boxing, I think we sell out massive stadiums, do record global box office business, and that is what is all about – so my phone is on,” WWE’s executive vice president of global talent strategy and development, Paul “Triple H” Levesque mentioned about the possibility of the matchup.

While Wilder-Fury 3 was supposed to take place, the end of the year is looking more and more like a 2021 event when fans are around. We’ll see if, in the meantime, Fury spends his free time back working with WWE until that fight eventually happens.
