Big Fight Weekend- Povetkin punch is KO of year?
A vicious left uppercut, a Top Rank boxing “bubble” cult- hero and and an intriguing Jr. Middlewight showdown midweek in Australia are all part of our latest show.
We had a lot of fun recapping last weekend and looking ahead to the top fights in the ring this week. The podcast features Senior writer from the website, Marquis Johns, and boxing enthusiast / analyst Dan Canobbio, the host of “Inside Boxing Live,” the weekly internet/television show on Thursday nights to break it all down.
The guys go over the stunning reversal, one punch knockout upset by Russian Heavyweight, Alexander Povetkin (above) over English, number one WBC Contender Dillian Whyte last Saturday night in England. The one punch KO is still reverberating throughout the boxing world and it has dashed Whyte’s hopes of trying to get a title shot anytime soon.

Is that punch now the front runner for knockout of the year? One of our guests thinks, yes.
The guys also discuss Middleweight (and former UFC fighter) Clay Collard, who has suddenly become an undercard sensation in the Top Rank Boxing “bubble fights” in Las Vegas. Collard has already won five fights in 2020, including the last three by knockout in the Vegas bubble since June. We suspect that he will be back on a Top Rank show, probably in late September or early October.
Next up is a preview of the Wednesday morning, U.S time, Australian Wednesday night showdown between former World Welterweight champion Jeff Horn and Country favorite Tim Tszyu, which may be the fight of the year in that country.
Tszyu is the young, unbeaten son of former Undisputed Junior Lightweight champion in the 1990s, Kostya Tszyu and seems to be ticketed for stardom. Horn is best known for having upset Hall of Famer-to-be, Manny Pacquiao, two years ago for the WBO 147 lb. title.
He has since lost that built to American superstar, Terence Crawford and desperately wants to get back into the World title picture.
Currently, Tszyu is the -235 favorite, but Horn at +185 might be a very interesting underdog play for the fight on Wednesday.
Finally, we go over the Top Rank Boxing main event coming Saturday night, where Unified Junior Welterweight Champion, Jose Luis Ramirez of Mexico, will defend his 140 lb. titles against Russian former World Champ, Viktor Postol in Vegas.
