James and Thomas Dulorme will finally battle in a 12-round main event for the WBA “Interim” 147 pound title that was to have been fought in April.
James, 26 – 1, 12 KOs, is from Minneapolis and that is where the original fight was to have taken place prior to the Covid 19 March shutdown of sports.
Fox Sports Executive Vice President, Head of Programming and Scheduling, Bill Wagner said in the statement,
“FOX Sports is thrilled to welcome PBC back into the ring August 8 with a fantastic matchup. This outing is the first in a long line of great fight nights coming for the remainder of the year on FOX, FS1, FOX Deportes and PPV.”
Tom Brown of TGB promotions added about the upcoming return of boxing programming to Fox Sports,
“We’re thrilled to have PBC back on FOX, FS1 and FOX Deportes headlined by this great main event between Jamal James and Thomas Dulorme. James has proven that he is amongst the top welterweights in the world and he will again have a chance to show his credentials against a tough opponent in Dulorme.
Combined with a stacked undercard of fights featuring rising stars and more, this lineup should deliver great action for fans all night long on August 8.”
The statement also revealed that Fox will unveil several more fight cards, dates and announcements during the August 8th show. It is already been previously reported that one of those fights is an August 22nd battle between former WBC Welterweight champ, Shawn Porter and unbeaten, but largely unknown German, Sebastian Formella.
It is also expected that Fox will reveal the tentative date for Unified 147 lb. champ, Errol Spence’s next Pay-per-View which will be a fight against Welterweight contender Danny Garcia. It’s believed that Spence-Garcia will be on November. Spence has fought his previous two fights on Fox PPV’s with Mikey Garcia and last September with Porter.
We wrote earlier this week, that Fox may very well be setting up a Spence-Porter rematch for early 2021 by having Porter fight first and then, Spence following a couple of months later.
