Shane Fury names the one fighter he fears for Tyson Fury — but who would actually win?

The heavyweight division continues to be the most talked about in the sport, and Tyson Fury has often been at the forefront of those discussions. Fury’s legacy in the sport is undeniable, with many outlets reporting his much-rumoured fight with Anthony Joshua will take place on November 20, with New York’s Madison Square Garden still the likeliest venue. His brother Shane is a key member of Team Fury, and he recently spoke on Fight Your Corner, in partnership with Midnite, where he revealed the last fight he’d want to see his brother in.

Tyson Fury vs Anthony Joshua

As reported by many sites, including BoxingScene, a deal for Anthony Joshua and Tyson Fury (36-2-1, 25 KOs) to fight is close, with MSG the likely venue on November 20.

Fury-Joshua has been linked for many years, with the Daily Mail breaking the news that all parties had reached an agreement, something which Eddie Hearn was quick to deny.

“We are in constant communication with Turki [Alalshikh] and SELA but as of yet there is no agreement to any variation within the contract,” the Matchroom boss said Tuesday in reaction to reports that the fight was done and would be staged in America.

Hearn has consistently said Joshua’s contract states the fight has to be in the UK, and a new contract will be needed if it happens in the U.S.

“I’ve got some big news that’s going to be dropped very, very soon,” Fury announced. “All is good in the hood, big fight on the horizon. It’s the one you’ve all been waiting for. About to be announced imminently. Stay tuned.”

It feels we are getting nearer to the announcement we’ve all been waiting for and BoxingScene reveals a deal is close and is likely to be formally announced in the coming week.

Moses Itauma

Moses Itauma (14-0, 12 KOs) is fast becoming the most talked-about heavyweight, with his electric speed combined with devastating power making him the fighter to watch in the division. On August 29 in London, Itauma will face Filip Hrgovic for the vacant IBF world heavyweight title.

Should Itauma triumph, could he even face Tyson Fury should the Joshua fight not happen, or if Fury defeats Joshua and wants to challenge for a world title?

Fury vs Itauma is not a fight Shane Fury would like to see, and when speaking on the Fight Your Corner podcast, he said:

“The last man I’d want to see Tyson in the ring with would be Moses Itauma. I wouldn’t want to see it, but 18 months ago, I would’ve seen them two go to war. I mean, war. You’d love to see it, honestly.”

The Big Fight Weekend final verdict

Tyson Fury vs Moses Itauma is not a fight out of the realms of possibility. Looking back at “The Gypsy King” in his prime (Deontay Wilder 2), it’s difficult to see him losing to anyone. He was a wrecking machine in the second and third fights against Wilder, and it would be difficult to back against that Fury vs many heavyweights throughout history.

Itauma has quickly moved through the rankings, but has been moved smartly by Queensberry Promotions. His ability to move like a middleweight but punch like a mule has left many waxing lyrical on the potential of him to rule the heavyweight division.

Even at this stage of his career, it would be difficult to back against Tyson Fury vs any heavyweight. However, he looked noticeably slower against Mariusz Wach in his most recent fight, and Itauma is so fresh and nasty in his work, it’s completely understandable that Shane does not want his brother to face Itauma at this stage of his career.
