Campbell Hatton discusses reinvention with Misfits Boxing and teases Hamed showdown

Campbell Hatton’s professional boxing career was constantly overshadowed by his father’s, the late great Ricky Hatton, a two-weight world champion. Campbell ultimately fought professionally for the last time in 2024, but it now appears Hatton has been tempted to fight again, but with Misfits Boxing. The 25-year-old recently spoke on Fight Your Corner, in partnership with Midnite, where he revealed talks with Mams Taylor and identified a potential opponent.

Campbell (14-2, 5 KOs) turned professional in 2021, defeating Jesus Ruiz, and went on to reach 14-0 before losing back-to-back to James Flint. He also switched his training team from his uncle Matthew to Barry Smith and Ben Davison, but defeat followed in the Flint rematch. 

It was revealed that he had teamed up with his dad, Ricky, as his trainer, but it was then announced he was retiring from professional boxing.

The 25-year-old reveals on Fight Your Corner that he got the bug back for boxing after a stint in rehab.

He then went on to discuss the deal with Misfits Boxing:

“My dad’s agent was the one that looked after the deal, to be honest. He put me onto the Misfits scene. I was clueless, to be fair – I’ve not really followed it to be honest. It was packed out from start to finish. It’s not like pro boxing where the venue fills up as the night goes on. It was mental. The Jordan McCann fight sold it for me, to be honest,” said Campbell.

“Misfits made sense, I was getting more money from them then I was for a title fight! When I stepped away from boxing, it wasn’t really something I wanted to do. My mental and physical health weren’t the greatest and I couldn’t afford to keep my career going financially. A big credit to the lads that can work and also box full time, but I just wasn’t in a position to do that.

“If I’m going to do that I want to be all in. Misfits is a good way to have a bit of fun with it because the pressure is off and ease my way back into that boxing way of life. I can also start looking at Misfits pro and opening more doors,”added the 25-year-old.

Campbell Hatton teases fight with Sami Hamed

Another British Boxing legend, Prince Nassem Hamed, recently saw his son Sami (1-0, 0 KOs) make his professional debut after a stint in Misfits (2-0, 2 KOs).

It appears Campbell is targeting a fight against Sami, but in Misfits:

“The fight against Sami Hamed was a fight I thought would be a decent one. We are both from a boxing family and I think he can fight a bit as well.

“I spoke to Mams Taylor and he told me that they are targeting a date in December. I know they have the Newcastle show, which Big Stacks and Jordan McCann are headlining. So I hope to be on the card after that,” said Hatton.
