Fight Recap
The opening round saw both fighters taking their time to study each other. Lomachenko was the one pressing forward, keeping his opponent along the ropes. In the early rounds, the Ukrainian threw more punches, landing cleanly, particularly to the head. There was a moment in the second where Kambosos landed a clean shot to the body that momentarily caused “Loma” to pause.
At times, the Australian was the one coming forward. However, he struggled to throw punches against an opponent constantly feinting. Lomachenko was heavily out-landing Kambosos, and by the middle rounds, it was clear the Ukrainian could almost do anything he wanted. By the end of round eight, blood was pouring from a cut on the right eye of “Ferocious” that was caused by a left hook.
With less than a minute to go in the eleventh, Lomachenko started to pile on the pressure and landed a left hand to the body of Kambosos. The Australian took a few steps back and took a knee. Kambosos got back up, but Lomachenko threw a barrage of punches that pushed his opponent into a corner. Another two left hands to the body sent Kambosos down yet again. At this point, referee Katsuhiko Nakamura waved off the bout as the corner of Kambosos threw the towel in.
