Tyson Fury vs. Oleksandr Usyk 2: Impressive Victory Wows Fans
On December 21, Usyk Fury 2 took place for Oleksandr Usyk’s (22-0, 14 KOs) WBA, WBC and WBO heavyweight titles at the Kingdom Arena. The first fight in May this year saw the Ukrainian beat Tyson Fury (34-1-1, 24 KOs) via a close split decision. We have already seen an entertaining undercard, which you can catch up on via our undercard recap. The rematch titled Reignited saw Usyk cement is dominance in the heavyweight division, defeating Fury in their rematch by unanimous decision.

The opening round of this highly anticipated rematch saw Fury start on the front foot, landing a right hand. Usyk looked light on his feet, finding his range better as the round went on. The Ukrainian worked the body well early in the second round. Fury landed a nice right hand – the talking point of a second round – that Usyk looked better in.
After an impressive two rounds for Fury, Usyk enjoyed success in the next rounds, rocking “The Gypsy King” with two big left hands. Following a strong round from Fury in the fifth, working Usyk’s body. The Ukrainian enjoyed an impressive end to round six, showcasing his movement and punch variation.
The Ukrainian began to pull away, winning the previous two rounds. Fury needed to use his jab to dominate and stop Usyk from getting inside. As the fight progressed Usyk’s speed and movement impressed as he kept finding a home for his wand-like left hand. Fury’s bravery is undeniable, but the variation in Usyk’s work is extraordinary. The judges scorecards were 116-112 on all three cards. It was a deserved win for the Ukrainian. He got better as the fight went on. The king of the heavyweight division!
Immediately after the fight, Usyk was asked by DAZN in the ring why he was so good again in the back half of the fight?
“I don’t know, maybe how I train? I am a good preparer…listen, today is a very good day- both my sons won in competition in judo… my son talked to me and said ‘Papa, you’re next’ I said OK.”
He was then asked what he thought of the former champ, Fury, after another 12 rounds with him?
“Listen. He’s a great fighter, a great opponent. It was unbelievable 24 rounds for my career.”
Then, the attention turned to newly crowned IBF champ Daniel Dubois, who came into the ring to challenge Usyk to a rematch. Usyk stopped Duobois by TKO in August of 2023 to retain his unified titles. The champ said Saturday night,
“Yeah, no problem. No problem. I am ready. Next fight, no problem. Now, I wanna go back home for a little bit rest. I’m ready.”
