Oscar Collazo Impresses on Jaime Munguía-Ryder Card
Oscar Collazo (9-0, 7 KOs) did not need long against Reyneris Gutierrez (10-2, 2 KOs) as he retained his WBO minimumweight title with a third-round TKO.
The championship bout took place on the undercard of Jaime Munguía’s clash against John Ryder. This fight was just before the main event of a DAZN broadcast at the Footprint Center in Phoenix, AZ. Collazo was making the second defence of his WBO title in a bout presented by Golden Boy Promotions in collaboration with Miguel Cotto Promotions. He originally won the belt with a seventh-round stoppage over then-champion Melvin Jerusalem.

Oscar Collazo Wins in Impressive Style
Round one saw both fighters stay an arm’s length away from each other for the most part. This appeared – to be a round where both men sought to study each other. The two minimumweights picked up the pace in the second, with Collazo doing the better work and making Gutierrez lose his balance more than once.
With just a minute to go in round three, Collazo dropped his opponent for the first time in the fight with a left hand to the side of the head. Gutierrez got up and beat the count, but a barrage of punches from Collazo caused referee Chris Flores to step in and wave off the fight at the 2:37 mark.

With the win, Collazo defends his WBO belt for the second time. During the press conference on Thursday, he vowed to have five title defences in 2024, a promise he reiterated during his post-fight interview. Collazo took one step towards that goal on Saturday night.
