Dalton Smith Calls for Puello vs. Martin Winner

“Thunder” started brightly against Ouizza, with every punch clearly affecting the Frenchman. It was the accuracy and venom in every punch that was most impressive. A right hook near the end of the first round floored Ouizza, and despite beating the count, he was clearly on unsteady legs. With only seconds left in the opening round, Smith landed a huge left hook, which led to Ouizza’s corner throwing in the towel. It was a devastating performance from the 27-year-old, and he’s now ready for the next level.

Albert Puello and Sandor Martin will meet for the WBC super lightweight title on the Gervonta Davis-Lamont Roach undercard, and Smith has made it clear he wants to face the winner: “I’m sat number two with the WBC, I’m hoping to get the winner of the [Alberto] Puello-Sandor Martin fight,” Smith said to The Stomping Ground.

“I needed a big performance to get that opportunity, and I think that’s what I did.”

Smith added: “I’ll just stay in the gym and wait out for the winner and get that opportunity.”
