Stevenson vs Schofield: Complete Fight Breakdown

Stevenson vs Schofield for Riyadh Season Glory

The current WBO champion is understandably the favourite with the bookies. Since joining Matchroom Boxing, Shakur has yet to fight and will be eager to make an impression on his promotional debut. He won the title with an uninspiring unanimous decision victory over Edwin De Los Santos (115-113 and 116-112 x2). Since then, he has only fought once, beating Artem Harutyunyan by unanimous decision (119-109, 118-110 and 116-112).

His opponent is taking a major step up in competition despite his clear talent. Schofield was last seen surviving a knockdown to defeat Rene Tellez Giron by unanimous decision (118-109 x2, 116-111).

Stevenson is exceptional defensively and can slip punches effortlessly. While not a heavy puncher, he’s extremely accurate. He feints and then pounces on the reaction of his opponent. He is a true example of the sweet science.

Schofield is more of an aggressive fighter and will look to take the fight to Stevenson and let his punches go in smart combinations. He will need to be wary of Shakur slipping the shots and countering, but “Kid Austin” will need to make life uncomfortable for the champion if he’s to score the upset win.
