Eimantas Stanionis Ready to Show He’s ‘The Best Welterweight in the World’ on April 12

On April 12, Reigning WBA Welterweight Champion Eimantas Stanionis (15-0, 9 KOs) will face unbeaten IBF welterweight champion Jaron “Boots” Ennis (33-0, 29 KOs) at the Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City, N.J live on DAZN. This intriguing welterweight unification will headline a Matchroom Boxing card in association with TGB Promotions. Ahead of this bout, The Lithuanian has reflected on his arrival at his training camp at the Wild Card Boxing Gym in Los Angeles and made it clear he’s focused on showing the world he’s the best welterweight.

Stanionis Aims to Prove He’s the Best Welterweight Against Ennis

Reflecting on his build-up to April 12 and how he’s feeling, Stanionis said: “I feel great.” The Lithuanian continued: “Since arriving in LA a couple of weeks ago, I’ve gotten used to the time change and weather. Even though I hadn’t fought in a while, Marvin and I picked up right where we left off. We work well together, and we’re making all the right changes to be in top shape. Training has been going really well, and I’m focused and ready for this fight.”

Both are undefeated, but many will have Ennis as the heavy favourite, despite the criticism he received for his underwhelming win in his rematch against Karen Chukhadzhian. Stanionis was out of the ring for two years before his one-sided decision victory over Gabriel Maestre.

Despite many favouring “Boots” to become the unified welterweight champion, the 30-year-old Lithuanian is ready to shock the world: “Many people think Ennis will win, but I am here to surprise everyone,” said Stanionis. “I have worked my whole career for this fight, and on April 12, I will give everything to win these titles and show I am the best welterweight in the world.”
