Big Time Boxing USA is back with its second instalment, presented by Salita Promotions and to be streamed live on DAZN on Thursday, March 28. The new event presents two intriguing fights featuring top contenders. The latest event information – was shared via a press release from Salita Promotions.

The second Big Time Boxing USA event will be topped by the talented 2016 Colombian Olympian Juan Carrillo (11-0, 8 KOs). He will face veteran Quinton Rankin (21-8-2, 16 KOs)  in a 10-round light heavyweight bout – with IBF No. 2 super middleweight contender Vladimir Shishkin (15-0, 9 KOs) facing the durable Mike Guy (12-7-1, 5 KOs).

Dmitry Salita said regarding the future aims for Carillo and Shishkin: “March 28 is going to feature two fighters on their way to a world title in talent packed exciting divisions.” He continued: “Juan Carillo, with an outstanding amateur career, is coming off a career best win and is ready to put the division on notice. Vladimir Shishkin has been gunning for Canelo Alvarez and with all the happenings in the division, that time is coming soon.”

Background of the Fighters

Carillo enjoyed an impressive amateur career, amassing a record of 388-23, reaching the second round at the 2016 Olympics in Rio de Janiero, Brazil. During his amateur career, he also won gold medals at the 2012 Colombian National Games, 2012 Pacific Cup Tournament, 2011 Colombian National Championships, 2010 Colombian Youth National Championships, and silver at the 2014 Central American & Caribbean Games. He most recently defeated the previously unbeaten Richard Vansiclen to win the WBO Inter-Continental belt.

Carillo’s opponent Rankin presents a solid test for the 2016 Olympian, having faced a number of big names during his career, including David Morrell Jr. and former longtime champion Chad Dawson. Following the defeat to Morrell, Rankin bounced back in style, winning six fights in a row before most recently losing to Deon Nicholson in September 2023. 

Shishkin is making a name for himself in the super middleweight division as he looks for an opportunity against undisputed super middleweight world champion Canelo Alvarez. The Russian fighter is now under the guidance of the renowned SugarHill Steward. The Stepnoe native has impressive wins over former world champion Jose Uzcategui and Sena Agbeko.

Guy will provide durable opposition for the Russian fighter, having only been stopped once. He has also faced top contenders such as John Ryder and Sergiy Derevyanchenko.
