Impact of Fury upset of Wilder still setting in Sunday

The boxing world is still buzzing after “the Gypsy King,” Tyson Fury recaptured a portion of the heavyweight title Saturday night with a 7th round TKO upset over previously undefeated, Deontay Wilder in Las Vegas.

And we decided to recap the dramatic fight as part of our “Big Fight Weekend” podcast. You can listen to the episode here as T.C. Martin, radio host and broadcaster from Vegas who was in attendance at the MGM Grand Garden arean, David Payne who gives great insight from the U.K. and senior writer Marquis Johns of BigFightWeekend.com, all joined me a Sunday evening:

We go over all of the pertinent angles of the Fury upset, including whether it was part of his strategy from the beginning to wrestle and lean on Wilder while carrying almost 15 lb. more of weight?

We also discuss whether or not Wilder’s corner showed inexperience and even, dissension between itself about whether or not the fight should have been stopped in the 7th round?

T.C. gives great info on what it was like inside the MGM Grand as Fury’s hand was raised in victory and he also provides some insight from the referee Kenny Bayless, who stopped the fight and whom T.C. knows well.

David Payne has his analysis of the Fury win and gives his reasons why he doesn’t believe a third fight with Wilder it will even be worthwhile. That point is hotly debated on the show.

And, Marquis continues to add to his great work from this weekend in the build-up and the recap of Fury’s upset that enabled him to capture the WBC Heavyweight Championship. How hurt is Wilder really and did his corner mis-read the extent of his injuries?

Marquis also gives his opinion on whether or not we’re looking at a third Fury – Wilder fight, maybe as soon as the end of this year?

It’s all part of the latest edition of the “Big Fight Weekend” podcast.
