Wilder-Fury 2 set for February 22nd-Place TBD
There is going to be a lot of noise back and forth between Deontay Wilder and Tyson Fury for their highly awaited rematch but we all can at least mark our calendars for when the fireworks in the ring will take place.
Dan Rafael of ESPN reported and confirmed Tuesday that the date for the heavyweight contest will be on Saturday February 22nd by both sides involved.
“We’re going to have an announcement before Christmas, but the fight is happening Feb. 22. You can go to sleep on that,” Top Rank Boxing chairman Arum said in the ESPN report.

They are still ironing out the details but the date is something that has been known for a while now as Fury inadvertently spilled the beans on this date back in July at a Q&A event.
One detail that both sides are working on is a location for the December 2018 rematch which ended in a split draw and has been the a talking point ever since.
“It will all get worked out in early December as far as the site, but the 22nd is the date,” Finkel said to ESPN. “The site is not 100 percent set, but I’m not concerned about getting the site done. We’ll meet about that and about when to make the official announcement, when to have a press conference. These are things that still need to get done.”
The location that both Top Rank Boxing and Premier Boxing Champions are eyeing is the MGM Grand in Las Vegas which just held Wilder’s 10th title defense of his WBC belt defeating Luis Ortiz by 7th round knockout Saturday.
Arum has no problem with fight being held there as it held earlier in the year a match with his fighter Fury stopping then-undefeated Tom Schwarz in three rounds.
“There is no reason to believe the MGM won’t do what they always do to attract a big fight because obviously this is the biggest fight, and no question the MGM loves to have the big fights,” Arum said. “There’s nothing written in stone, so Shelly is totally correct that the site is not 100 percent done, but all things being equal and the MGM does what they generally do, the fight will be at the MGM.”
The date is set, the location seems to be locked in, Once both sides figure out the last details be prepared for one of the most awaited and soon to be highly spotlighted fights in boxing for 2020.
