Who are the 10 better than Devin Haney?

Devin Haney currently is arguably one of the best fighters in the lightweight division. However, Top Rank Promoter Bob Arum tended to think otherwise.

Over the weekend, Fight Hub TV caught up with Arum to gather his thoughts on the lightweight landscape and didn’t place Haney too high on his ranking scale.

“Devin Haney is wet behind his ears. Devin Haney has to show that he can fight at a level of a Lomachenko,” Arum said to Fight Hub . Right now I look at Devin Haney as being — maybe there’s 10 lightweights that’s better than he is. I mean, really and truly, because Eddie Hearn threw money at Devin Haney, what suddenly made Devin Haney a star?

“Eddie Hearn — it’s all about the name and the bulls*** and all of that stuff — nobody judging whether Haney even belongs in the same ring with a Lomachenko or 10 other lightweights that I could name.”

In all seriousness, the shot at Haney not being good, felt more of Arum’s continuing assault on Haney’s promoter Eddie Hearn of Matchroom Boxing. Arum and Hearn are picking up where they left off in 2019 so far in promotional jabs at one another.

That still didn’t stop VP of Top Rank Boxing Operations, Carl Moretti, for piping in his thoughts.

While Haney taking on Lomachencko is looking like “No-machenko,” currently, I’ve looked at the current rankings for the top boxers ranked at 135 and it makes ten kinda hard to challenge currently.

After looking again back at that list and sleeping on it, I’m in line with what Christoper Carlson of “Rope-A-Dope-Radio” Podcast tweeted on Haney’s page yesterday.

So I was just on the IBO Rankings site & I couldn’t find 10 lightweights better than Devin Haney. I’ll try to refresh the page & see if that works.

There wasn’t a follow-up to what ten Arum could rattle off. So, that loophole and trap door is there.

Those top ten could range from those currently not in the class now, like Mikey Garcia to All-timers like Floyd Mayweather and Henry Armstrong. That line can be blurred to no return, but as of the current rankings and this writing, I’d like to know what ten currently Arum has that are better?
