VIDEO- Frampton shown taking Covid 19 test for Saturday
As former two division Unified champ, Ireland’s Carl Frampton, readies for his upcoming non title return to the ring Saturday, he had to undergo the standard Covid 19 test as part of the health guidelines.
Frank Warren’s Queensberry Promotions is putting on the co-features with Frampton and Irish Featherweight Michael Conlan from the BT Sport studio in London. And, Tuesday afternoon they showed Frampton taking the test:

Frampton was showing getting a swab of his throat first and then both nasal passages as part of the guidelines put in place by British health officials and the British Boxing Board of Control.
Frampton even made a joke about the nasal swab that drew a laugh from the technician at the end.
Frampton has a new opponent, as he will now face Scottish veteran Darren Traynor in a 10-round lightweight bout this Saturday, August 15. Frampton was supposed to face Latvian, Vahram Vardanyan, but visa issues forced Vardanyan to pull out of the fight last week.
Frampton, 27-2, 15 KOs, was most recently was the WBA/WBO Featherweight champ before Leo Santa Cruz defeated him. Frampton is also the former Unified 122 lb. title holder, as well, and is slotted for a title shot with current WBO 130 lb. Champion, Jamel Herring.
Herring will be fighting in September in a title defense against Jonathan Oquendo that has been twice postponed by him testing positive for Covid 19. Herring and Frampton were to have met in June prior to the Coronavirus shutdown of the sport.
Meanwhile, Traynor (16-3, 7 KOs), from Aberdeen, Scotland, is a nine-year pro and former two-weight Scottish champion who once challenged for the British super featherweight title. He had been training as a potential fill-in opponent, so when the call came to fight a Frampton, he did not hesitate. He’s split his last four bouts, most recently winning a decision over veteran Des Newton at lightweight.
