Tyson Fury Suggests Perfect Trainer For Anthony Joshua- Him
We know that former Unified Heavyweight Champ Anthony Joshua is licking his wounds after his decision loss for his titles to Oleksandr Usyk in Late September. And, now, he’s also looking to replace the only trainer he’s had as a pro in Rob McCraken. Further, in a fascinating twist, a potential Joshua opponent says he wants to help him train….and he’s serious.
WBC Heavyweight champ Tyson Fury gave an interview to BT Sport in England and segment of it was posted online Wednesday night, U.K. time. In the conversation, Fury, with a serious face and voice made clear, that he wants to help Joshua avenge the loss to the unbeaten Ukrainian Usyk,

“I know that if me and Sugar Hill (Steward, Fury’s trainer for his two wins over Deontay Wilder) trained him (Joshua) for this next fight, he’d definitely beat Oleksandr Usyk. That’s a fact. And, I’d be open to doing it….I’ll do it for free, because I don’t need the money.
And, I don’t want to take his money anyway… We would take on that challenge. No problem. I guarantee that he beats him,” Fury told BT Sport.
Now, obviously, while Fury said this with a serious tone, there is always a “public relations play” that he’s looking to make. And, the implication that Joshua would have to enlist his help to revenge the loss to Usyk is designed to needle the former WBA/IBF/WBO World Champ.
That’s because the two have been long rumored to fight each other over the last two years. Alas, that didn’t happen and now Joshua has gone and been beaten for a second time since Andy Ruiz kayoed him in June of 2019, and most of the luster is off of him at this point.
Further, Joshua was frustrated earlier this year, when the Fury potential mega-Undisputed fight couldn’t be pulled off. And, he even decided to fire back on social media with his own sarcasm about Fury coming to the gym to be with him,

Joshua playfully saying, “he can even spar with me, as well” is a reference to getting to actually throw punches at the WBC champ.
Still, whether it’s American trainer Ronnie Shields, Mexico’s Eddy Reynoso (who trains Canelo Alvarez) or the silliness of Fury’s offer, Joshua is looking to part with McCraken and get a fresh start with someone else.
So we wait to see whom that will be, as clearly, Joshua’s last hope to stay on the biggest stage to avenge his decision loss to Usyk. Or, the Ukranian will be the one fighting Fury for the all the belts later in 2022.
