Atlas Predicts Tyson vs. Paul Showdown

In THE FIGHT with Teddy Atlas, the Hall of Fame boxing commentator and trainer spoke about Tyson and Paul and the legitimacy of calling it a professional fight: “I don’t know how you call it a pro fight when it’s not pro rules. You got two-minute rounds instead of three-minute rounds. You got 14oz gloves instead of 10oz gloves. But they’re still saying they go by pro-rules, but those aren’t rules.”

He added: “I’m just wondering if this is going to have a WWE edge to it – or touch to it, where it’s pre-ordained, where it’s scripted. I have no evidence to tell me it is. But I still wonder.”

Breaking The Fight Down

Talking about the fight itself – Atlas said: “If it’s legit – I think the early part of the fight there’s a chance that Tyson knocks him out.” He added: “If he’s going to win, it’s gonna be early.”

If I’m in the corner with Jake Paul, I’m telling him – control the outside, use your jab, but be smart with your jab. Don’t throw too slow. Don’t throw it where you’re leaving an opening for a counter right hand. Tyson used to be really good at making guys miss, making them pay,” said Atlas regarding Jake Paul.

He added: “If Paul can discipline himself enough to control the outside and get Tyson to lead with a big left hook, he’s got a chance to land the big right hand.”

In a message to Mike Tyson: Teddy Atlas said: “Do what you used to do, throw punches with bad intentions and get the guy out of there.”
