Keyshawn Davis Closes in on World Title Shot, Headlines Norfolk on Nov. 8

Keyshawn Davis (11-0, 7 KOs) will return to Norfolk for a homecoming fight on Nov. 8 as the No. 3 ranked lightweight in the world with the WBO, IBF, and WBC. The 135lbs contender and 2020 U.S. Olympic silver medalist will face the dangerous Argentinian puncher Gustavo Lemos (29-1, 19 KOs) at the Scope Arena in Norfolk, Virginia. The entire event will be promoted by Top Rank Boxing and be shown exclusively in the U.S. on ESPN+. Davis, Bob Arum and Lemos have all reacted to the fight announcement via a Top Rank press release.

Davis, Lemos and Arum React to Fight News

Davis will be eager to build on the perfect start to his professional career, with impressive wins against Jose Pedraza and Miguel Madueno. Reacting to the news of his homecoming fight on November 8, “The Businessman” said: “As a young kid growing up in Norfolk, I dreamed of accomplishing enough to headline a card at Scope Arena one day. My boxing idol is the legendary Pernell ‘Sweet Pea’ Whitaker, and I want to pack that arena like he used to. He’s the greatest from my city, and I’m honored to continue that legacy.”

He continued: “I can’t wait to put on a spectacular show against a tough opponent in Gustavo Lemos. Everyone from the 757 will be in my corner.”

Top Rank Chairman Bob Arum also had his say on the news:Norfolk has been waiting for Keyshawn Davis to come home for years. This is going to be a great night of fights headlined by a real competitive main event.”

Arum added: “Lemos is full of confidence, and Keyshawn will have to be in top form on November 8 at Scope Arena.”

Lemos was last in action at super lightweight when he lost a disputed decision to Richardson Hitchins in April this year. Lemos has shared his thoughts on November 8: “This is a big occasion for Keyshawn Davis, and I am coming to Norfolk to spoil the party. He picked the wrong guy. On November 8, he’ll find out the truth. He’s not on my level.”
