Kazuto Ioka has an impressive professional record, winning major titles in four weight classes. Ioka returns to the ring for the first time since his unanimous decision victory over Joshua Franco on June 24, 2023. The Osaka-born fighter is at his best when he utilises his jab and uses the right hand behind it. Ioka puts his punches together well and is adept at pressuring his opponents.
Josber Perez
Josber Perez is a big puncher, as proven by his 18 KOs in 20 wins. Since an early career defeat, the Venezuelan has only lost to unbeaten WBA flyweight titlist Artem Dalakian and Rober Barrera. Following a three-year hiatus after the loss to Dalakian, Perez has returned with three impressive stoppage wins to show he still maintains plenty of power.
Prediction for Ioka vs. Perez
It’s difficult to look past an Ioka win, as he has mixed at a higher level, defeating Franco and the experienced Filipino boxer Donnie Nietes. Ioka seemed focused on the fight with Perez when speaking to The Japan Times: “As the defending champion, I have to show that I’m on a different level and win by a landslide.”
Despite the power of the Venezuelan fighter, it is hard to envisage anything other than a dominant win for Ioka. If the Japanese fighter can get in his groove early, establishing his jab and working off that – it will be difficult to upset that rhythm.
