Jermall Charlo: ‘I’m Back In The Ring & Back Training Everyday Non-Stop’

WBC middleweight champion Jermall Charlo was at the MGM Grand media room in Las Vegas, NV giving an update on his situation.

As the Gervonta Davis vs. Ryan Garcia fight week heads towards the weekend, fighters who are in Las Vegas to watch the fight make themselves available to capitalize off of the massive media presence. Early this evening, WBC middleweight champion Jermall Charlo (32-0) made himself available to journalist Ismael AbduSalaam from beastboxingmayhem.com.

Although AbduSalaam only posted a quick snippet of the interview, what Charlo said answered some questions about his absence. While discussing the growth in his spirituality, Charlo told AbduSalaam, “It was like a gradually time that I wanted to strengthen my relationship with God. I feel like, me getting my relationship with God would help me in the midst of everything that I was going through. I had nobody else to turn to, so I turned to God, and it worked. It helped me; it humbled me. It made me sharper. I feel stronger. I feel mentally better. I’m back in the ring and back training every day non-stop.

Charlo has posted on social media in the last few weeks that he will return to the ring in June. Although Carlos Adames is due to face Julian Williams that month, there were whispers that Adames would now face Charlo. At this point, I don’t think anyone cares who Charlo is fighting as they just want to see him return to action as it’s been too long.

Which version of Charlo will we see as being away from the ring for two years isn’t easy to come back from? Can the 32-year-old Charlo prove that he is still the most dominant middleweight in the division? All questions that must be answered the next time we see him the ring which we hope it truly is June.
