Jack Catterall Eyes WBO Title Shot After Regis Prograis Clash

At the Co-op Live Arena, Manchester on October 26, Jack Catterall (29-1, 13 KOs) and Regis Prograis (29-2, 24 KOs) will collide in a 12-round super lightweight bout. This intriguing clash will be the main event of the Matchroom Boxing card shown globally on DAZN. Ahead of fight night, “El Gato” has spoken to DAZN about the motivation for taking this fight and who he would like to face next.

Catterall Sets Sights on WBO Title Shot

Catterall-Prograis is a vitally important fight for both, as they aim for a world title shot in the not-too-distant future. Catterall was last seen winning his highly anticipated rematch against Josh Taylor and will be eager to back that win up in Machester. “Rougarou” will be eager to banish the memories of his shutout loss against Devin Haney and prove he still belongs at the top table in the super lightweight division.

The Chorley native has spoken to DAZN that if he can get past Prograis, he would like a shot at WBO super lightweight world champion Teofimo Lopez: “That’s the motivation for both if us as the winner goes on to land a big fight.”

He continued: “I don’t want to look too far into the future, but if had to pick [my next opponent] then it’d be Teofimo Lopez.”

“He has WBO world title and out of all the champions in the division, that’d be the fight I’d love to have, but first and foremost, I’ve got a job to do and that’s to beat Prograis,” said “El Gato.”
