On June 27, at the Telekom Center, Athens, at OAKA Olympic Complex, Floyd Mayweather vs Mike Zambidis headlines a fight card presented live by Frontrow Fight Series, Mayweather Promotions, and Zambidis Club. The main event will be a full-contact exhibition bout live globally on Pay-Per-View. Ahead of this event, both fighters have spoken about the upcoming event, with Mayweather making it clear he’s ready for anything Zambidis has to offer.
Floyd Mayweather vs Mike Zambidis confirmed for June 27
Floyd Mayweather vs Mike Zambidis will take place in an event dubbed Battle of the Legends. The Pay-Per-View details for the event will be announced in due course. Mayweather needs no introduction, with his legendary career culminating in a 50-0 record after he dominated and stopped Conor McGregor.
He reigned supreme from super featherweight to the light middleweight division. Money won a plethora of awards, and since retiring, has been involved in various exhibition bouts in countries such as Dubai, Japan, and the U.K.
Iron Mike Zambidis is a legendary kickboxer and an astonishing 18-time world champion, best known for his career in K-1 MAX. He does have a boxing past, having been a former member of the Greek National Boxing Team. Zambidis was part of the pre-Olympic squad for the 2000 Sydney Games. During his boxing and kickboxing careers, Zambidis has compiled a brilliant record of 158-22 with 87 knockouts against the best kickboxers in the world.
Floyd Mayweather vs Mike Zambidis: Both look ahead to Athens showdown
Looking ahead to a potentially busy year for him, against the likes of Mike Tyson and Manny Pacquiao, Mayweather sounded ready for anything Zambidis has to offer:
“This is an opportunity for me to sharpen my skills for what’s to come this year,” said Mayweather. “I’ve never fought in Greece before, but I look forward to experiencing their beautiful country and meeting their people. Mike Zambidis has achieved a lot in his sport, but I’ve stayed sharp, and I’m ready for anything thrown my way.”
The magnitude of the task ahead of him appears not to be lost on the Greek fighter:
“It’s an incredible thrill for me to face the great Floyd Mayweather,” said Mike Zambidis. “I have faced many of the best fighters of several disciplines, but I am looking forward to testing my skills against one of the greatest boxers of all time, and I’m very happy to be having this experience in front of my beloved Greek people.”
