Fabio Wardley vs Daniel Dubois: George Groves weighs in
On May 9, at the Co-op Live in Manchester, live on DAZN, Fabio Wardley vs Daniel Dubois headlines a Queensberry Promotions fight card. Wardley’s WBO world heavyweight title will be on the line in an event billed as “Don’t Blink.”
Ahead of this heavyweight shoot-out, former super middleweight world champion George Groves weighed in and revealed his prediction.
George Groves predicts Fabio Wardley vs Daniel Dubois
Wardley (20-0-1, 19 KOs) was last seen in action, stopping Joseph Parker to win the WBO interim title, before being later elevated. Dubois (22-3, 21 KOs) hasn’t fought since being dominated and stopped in the rematch against Oleksandr Usyk.
Previewing Fabio Wardley vs Daniel Dubois and revealing his prediction, Groves said:
“I think Fabio Wardley is the favourite, and thinking about it, I think Fabio Wardley is going to win this fight because Daniel Dubois is coming off the back of a loss, which is tough. He’s going to have to be absolutely on point and bring his A game to get this over the line. But there’s still a lot at play for Fabio Wardley in that you’ve still got a lot to prove.
“And I feel like he will know that and feel that and believe that and not be put out by it and probably won’t even mind people like me even saying it, that he’s heavyweight champion of the world, but he’s yet to have a world title fight. He was given the belt.
“And we all know that (Oleksandr) Usyk is the man, and Usyk’s out in the desert soon fighting a kickboxer or something, but that don’t matter. There’s a heavyweight world title here that Wardley now has, and he has to win a significant fight, a big fight, a domestic dust-up to really stake a claim as a full world champion.”
