Diamante- ‘There’s nothing quite like the Geordies’
If you have seen boxing for any period, in particular, Matchroom Boxing shows, you would have seen the long, flowing locks of ring announcer David Diamante.
Diamante, on hand for this weekend’s matchup of Robbie Davies Jr. and Lewis Ritson, spoke with iFL TV about the upcoming fight between the two rivals and the atmosphere surrounding it.
“There’s nothing quite like the Geordies,” Diamante said to iFL TV, explaining the anticipated environment. “The North of England is a whole different ball of wax shall they say. Yeah, New Castle is incredible.”.

Arena in Newcastle, England, is the site for this fight card that will air on Saturday, October 19th, on the streaming service DAZN in North America and kicks off at 2 p.m. ET.
DIamante also gave some foreshadowing into previewing the overseas matchups.
“The tune. It’s a great, great spirited city, and they always support their charges,” Diamante stated. “The two top fights on this bill Ritson and Davies Jr. and of course (Ted) Cheeseman and (Scott) Fitzgerald they’re really matched domestic dust-ups.”
While fighting on the same card in August, Ritson stopped Marek Jedrzejewsji in three rounds, while Davies had a TKO of Michal Dufek on the same card. Both had some choice words during the card and have continued during the press conferences leading up to the fight this week.
Both Ritson and Davies Jr. have been going back and forth for quite a while, and Diamante confirms this rivalry goes beyond belts.
“I think there is a lot more at stake than titles or you know eliminators, it’s British bragging rights so come Saturday it’s going to be rocking,” Diamante said.
In the United States, the big card is taking place on Friday night, but for those looking for some boxing out of England that should provide some fireworks, this card out of England shouldn’t disappoint.
