Conor Benn Drops Algieri In Four
Conor Benn looked to be in his toughest test against former world champion Chris Algieri and it was just that for all four rounds before getting the stoppage win.
The official time of the stoppage was 2:58 in the fourth round as Benn retains his WBA regional title in the process.
The main event that came from the M&S Bank Arena, Liverpool, England hat aired on DAZN and started out from the opening bell with Benn working to establish the jab to the body of Algieri. Was a different approach and the fight week conversation from his camp as they looked to work on improving from the last victory with Adrian Granados.
Algieri was knocked down in the second round which was ruled as such from a shot from Benn but it looked when replayed on the broadcast that their feet got tangled up. Despite that, Algieri got up quickly and finished the round unscathed. The third round was when Benn started to apply more pressure and as a result, was landing more shots. Algieri came into this fight off a solid performance against Mikkel LesPierre back in August but wasn’t landing more than single shots in the early rounds of the fight.

A nasty left-right combination planted Algieri in the fourth and was from there it was all over as Algieri was immediately helped by medical personnel. The fact he fell as fast as he did may have been a good sign as Benn was looking to fire more shots. With the win, Benn stays undefeated at 20-0 but this win was definitely a statement that he is ready for elite competition in 2021. It’s a logjam at 147 and Benn is in the thick of it. We’ll see how is next for him after this on the world stage.
