Rumours have come and gone about Canelo facing Jake Paul, but these latest rumours have gained some serious traction, which has got the sporting world asking: Could Alvarez really face the novice cruiserweight?

If the fight is made, it would undoubtedly attract many eyes, as did his fight against “Iron Mike.” It would captivate a diverse audience and could potentially generate more viewers than Tyson-Paul. Rafael confirms via sources that both sides are in the early stages of discussing a fight for this spring, likely in Las Vegas for Cinco de Mayo weekend on May 3.

Rafael clarifies in his update that conversations are at an early stage with plenty of details still to be ironed out, with the agreed weight for the fight being one of those.

The report from Dan Rafael also notes that Canelo Alvarez intends to stay with PBC for his planned spring fight, meaning PBC would need to strike a deal with Jake Paul’s Most Valuable Promotions.

If a fight with “El Gallo” doesn’t materialize, one source told Fight Freaks Unite that IBF super middleweight champion William Scull is still an option. Alvarez previously declined to defend his titles against Scull, which allowed the Cuban-born fighter to defeat Vladimir Shishkin and win the vacant IBF title. A potential clash with Scull could pave the way for Alvarez to become undisputed again, setting the stage for a highly anticipated mega-fight against Terence Crawford in September.
