Canelo vs. Edgar Berlanga: Álvarez Dismisses Rival

Canelo Talks Berlanga

Canelo did not hold back when speaking to BoxingScene about Berlanga’s chances against him on September 14: “I don’t care what kind of fight he brings. I’m going to **** that guy up,” said Alvarez. “He’s nervous. We need to understand that.”

Berlanga has appeared confident in the build-up and when recently speaking to Fight Hub TV: “I got to go out there and just do what I do. Do my thing and just turn up for the city and put my name in the history book like a legend.”

Despite the confidence of Berlanga, Canelo looks like hes ready to send a message to the rest of boxing.

Álvarez vs. David Benavidez

Many in the boxing world have spoken about wanting to see Álvarez vs. David Benavidez, but the Mexican has not spoken positively about the fight. Benavidez also looks set to be the mandatory – to the winner of Dmitry Bivol vs. Artur Beterbiev at light heavyweight.

When speaking to BoxingScene, the Mexican legend did not close the door on the fight before he retired: Look, 175 is his weight class. And he did nothing at 175. He’s not the same.”

He continued: I don’t want to say what he needs to do. If the money is right, I’ll fight anyone. Right now is the time for me to ask for the money. If they want me to fight him, they need to pay me good.”

Referring to the risk of fighting Benavidez, Álvarez said: If there is something good for me on the table, I am in. I don’tcare, added Alvarez. He just brings 25 more pounds to the table. It’s a risky fight. But I can beat that guy, but not in the way I always did. It could be (that I fight Benavidez before I retire).”
