Anthony Cacace Impresses Against Josh Warrington on Joshua vs Dubois Undercard
Anthony Joshua (28-3, 25 KOs) will take on Daniel Dubois (21-2, 20 KOs) for the IBF world heavyweight title in a Riyadh Season event at Wembley Stadium on September 21. In one of the most intriguing fights on the card, Anthony Cacace (23-1, 8 KOs) took on Josh Warrington (31-4-1, 8 KOs) for the IBO super featherweight title. The Belfast man was the winner by unanimous decision, in what was an impressive win for the champion as he retained his IBO strap.

The opening round saw Warrington come out aggressively, punching in flurries, but Cacace stayed patient and picked his shots well from a distance. The second round was a strong one for the Leeds fighter as he landed two big right hands and outworked his opponent, making it his fight on the inside.

Cacace began to control the distance better in round three. In the fourth, the Belfast man hurts Warrington and seems to be punching with more spite as the fight progresses. Cacace enjoyed success in the next round, landing a beautifully timed left cross, which hurt the Leeds man who once again showed his bravery and fired back. Despite “The Apache” slowly getting on top, Warrington is having success to the body.
A quiet sixth round saw “Anto” land a beautiful uppercut in round seven, with that punch fast becoming his go-to shot in this bout. It appears Cacace is fast becoming in control of this fight against a brave Warrington. The eighth showcased that the fight was now happening at mid-distance – suiting Cacace and his reach advantage.

The bravery of Warrington isn’t wavering as he continues to work the body of his opponent, but the Belfast fighter is landing the more telling work. That right uppercut landed again, which was the best punch of round 10. The quality in the Belfast man’s work is shining through as the rounds progress. The good work from Cacace continued throughout the eleventh. The final round saw “Anto” produce the best work against a brave Leeds warrior. We again went to the judges scorecards, which read 118-110 and 117-111 x2 in favour of Cacace in what was a deserved victory.
