Conor Benn makes bold claim about Ryan Garcia: ‘Our DNA is just different’
On September 12 at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, NV, Ryan Garcia vs Conor Benn will headline a co-promoted card between Zuffa Boxing and Golden Boy Promotions. Fight fans in the United Kingdom and Ireland will be able to catch the action live on DAZN, while the rest of the world can watch the event on Paramount+.
They will meet for Garcia’s WBC welterweight world title, which he won against Mario Barrios. As we get closer to this intriguing world title clash, Benn spoke to Ring Magazine, casting doubt on Garcia’s desire.

Benn (25-1, 14 KOs) created headlines earlier this year by moving to Zuffa Boxing from Matchroom. Benn is still known for his two memorable fights against Chris Eubank Jr, winning the rematch before joining Zuffa and defeating Regis Prograis.
Garcia (25-2, 20 KOs) has dazzled at times and underwhelmed on other occasions. Last time out, he dropped and dominated Mario Barrios to win the WBC crown. That saw a huge improvement from his dreadful showing when losing to Rolly Romero.
When looking at these two, if Garcia is 100% focused, it’s difficult to see him losing. Benn will bring plenty of pressure, and if Garcia underestimates Benn, we could see an upset.
Benn questions Garcia’s desire
Garcia and Benn have made it clear there is no love lost between them, with both having to be held back when coming together recently at Fanatics Fest.
Benn has continually questioned Garcia’s desire, and when speaking to Ring Magazine said:
“Did he quit? As a fighter, I can say he did. With Rolly, did he go in his shell? Once he got clipped? He did. Our DNA’s just different. Our makeups completely different.
“I’m gonna go out swinging, and I’m going to go out on my shield always. I’ll stand there and have it with you.”
